Red Wing VIII Artist
Dogwood Tales is the songwriting, harmony driven partnership of Kyle Grim and Ben Ryan, hailing from the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. The release of their debut record, “Too Hard to Tell” in February of 2018 led to extensive touring on the east coast and all the way to California. The duo continued to tour frequently during 2018 and 2019, establishing a strong presence in the DIY and club scenes in the major cities of the east coast . The group’s alt-country sound, heavily influenced by the likes of Gram Parsons and Neil Young, flourished with the permanent additions of long-time friends and collaborators in Stephen Kuester (pedal steel), Danny Gibney (bass), and Jake Golibart (drums) during this time as well. After preparing to release and tour on a collection of recordings spanning the 2 years after their debut, their plans were halted by the pandemic. Within the isolation though, the band decided to release their follow up record, “Closest Thing to Heaven” regardless of being able to support the release with touring in July of 2020 via WarHen Records. During Covid, Dogwood Tales has recorded a large collection of new material that will be coming out in the fall of 2021.
